Censorship is God’s idea

In the creative arena, ‘censorship’ is a serious curse word. People want to be free to ‘be themselves’ and have total liberty of expression, thinking somehow that this is the truest form of pure creativity and personal expression. I’m all for creative expression, actually, I encourage it! I think the body of Christ is quite reserved and a little lacking in it’s overall creative outflow. BUT, God has made plain what and where we should explore and express.

We are exhorted, “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” (Phil 4:8)

Our meditations are meant to be on the things of God. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Cor 5:17). We should be renewing our minds and no longer conforming to the thoughts, ways or expressions of the former lusts, as in our ignorance. (1 Pet 1:14). At one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. (Eph 5:8-11)

Since we are new creations, let us seek to reveal attributes of the loving creator, be discerning of our thoughts and meditations, and put aside our own selfish creative expressions that may be of no benefit to anyone but the our own egos.
