Artists; bold in their creativity bold in their confession of Christ; 365

365 is a group of artists of various skill levels, committed to create 1 painting, every day for 1 year. The purpose of the endeavor is multifaceted.

To produce works of art and multiple interactive art shows that engage the community in discussions of faith and the living God
To show the visual journey a year has on creativity, commitment, the Spiritual walk, and relationships
To strengthen artists within the community of believers to be bold in their creativity and confession of faith
Establish a new outlook on Christian modern art through its commonality of organic visual honesty while trusting God throughout the journey of the project.

We are hosting mini art shows monthly to engage the community in the review of the creative pieces and discussions about processes and the spiritual inspiration of the work. Our prayer is that Christ be preached through imagery and conversations and that creative believers will begin to boldly engage with this culture through the language of their creative disciplines.

Easter Beach Outreach!

This Easter, Evoke Ministries took the resurrection message to the beach!

Wow! What an amazing time we all had being in the middle of a huge surf festival, sharing the love of God!

With God’s favor, through our friends at Life Visual, we were invited to set up our own platform and a large tent area as part of the annual Ron Jon Surf Festival!

There were thousands of people, from all over, swarming the beach for the surf event, spring break, and the shuttle launch. We shared the gospel with hundreds and hundreds and prayed with countless numbers for salvation and re-dedication! Praise to God for what he has done!

At the Evoke tent area we created lots of ways to interact and get into people lives. Our goal from the tent was one-one discussions about people’s spiritual life. We even had a survey we created to rate your spiritual journey. It worked real well to get people discussing their life and beliefs in what would usually be a laid back, party-like atmosphere. We had so many great conversations and prayed with tons of people wanting to get their lives reconnected to the heavenly father! I’m convinced that many people are so ready to live a life in Christ, they just haven’t really seen enough genuine believers walking it out.

We offered free caricatures all day with a friend of ours from Disney. She had a line all day! While people were waiting we had plenty of time to have discussions, share the gospel, and pray.

We had live art and graffiti to watch, and tons and tons of free giveaways. We gave out hundreds of testimony flyers, booklets, hip hop CDs, Jesus DVDs, bibles, and thanks to our friends at Possibility Pictures, who donated lots of gear from their upcoming movie release “Letters to God”.

Breaker dancers, drummers, live bands all took the platform and brought an entertaining performance for an eager crowd, and ALL boldly testified about the power of the gospel in their own personal lives.

Before I even finished sharing part of my testimony as a former atheist, two guys came to the platform saying they needed to hear more. We took time, sat together and listened to them share about their life experiences and doubts about the living God. We shared with them the reality of our relationships with God and Jesus Christ and assured them that this day, their loving Father was pursuing them. We got a chance to pray with them, that their eyes would be open to the reality of Jesus Christ and their need for a savior.

We continued to hang out and minister into the night. At 9pm our partners at Life Visual showed an evangelistic surf film on their 30ft x 30 ft inflatable screen! Many came out and sat on the beach, while others sat and watched from the local bars on the pier. In was really an incredible day bringing the Easter message to hundreds who really need it. May we all continue to be about the agenda of Jesus; seeking and saving the lost.

Jesus on Campus! Pt. 2

We prayed with muslims, buddhists, atheists and prodigals!

Once again Evoke Ministries teamed up with Chi Alpha student ministries for a lunchtime outreach at the University of Central Florida! (UCF). It was awesome to be out on the campus of 50,000+ students sharing the love and truth of Jesus Christ! It’s amazing how powerful a medium creative talents really are in connecting people one to another. DJs, break dancers, rappers, singers, and modern dance rocked the busy student union area with praises to God.

The Gospel was preached loud and clear. Many of us shared testimonies of the realty of Christ in our lives.

Unleashing God’s love over all the diverse crowd of college kids was incredible. We had many conversations and prayer time with students of different backgrounds and varied world views. Some heard it for the first time while others were reawakened. One unforgettable occurrence this time around was the fact that the campus atheist group had set up their table right across from us! As we boldly proclaimed the Gospel they began to get a bit rowdy. One guy dressed as a priest was passing out pamphlets to the people that were passing and observing our performances. Another made a sign that said “spoiler alert, God is not real”, and he began to flash it at those near him. It only made a greater distinction between the dark and the light and the light shone brighter! We spoke to him about the things of God shared testimony and even prayed with him. We were filled with God’s love towards them and lovingly embraced them as those who don’t know any better.

We shared the message of Christ with love and compassion for over 2 hours with hundreds of students. To God be the glory! He is still reconciling men to himself and calling us to participate in this wonderful work that has such eternal rewards (2 Corith 5:18).

Ron Jon Easter Surf Fest Outreach

Evoke Ministries has been given great favor and a unique opportunity at this years Ron Jon Easter Surf Festival. Through our friends at LifeVisual, we have been given a stage on Friday evening of the festival. We will, by way of bands, break-dancing, graffiti art, bikers & video, along with worship and testimonies share the love and power of Jesus Christ with the entire festival!

We have already been given the time, the place, the permits, and a huge crowd. We need, bigger stage, sound, lights, technicians, prayer, and volunteers. We are gathering together prayer teams and evangelistic groups to work the beach and to minister and pray one on one. Please consider joining our teams in showing Gods love.

Because of the favor we have been shown, we are able to keep our budget quite small for such a huge event. We are praying and asking for $500, $1000 and $2500 sponsorships to properly pull off this outreach with quality, professionalism and integrity. However, every dollar of any amount given will be of help.

Please consider helping us to reach this generation with the love and truth of the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.

The Art of Enduring

As we pass through this turbulent time, the questions of “what is worth enduring” . . . “what will endure” . . . and “where does endurance come from” . . .are worth exploring. God’s enduring love for us.

Evoke Ministries was a sponsor and participant in the “Art of Enduring” event, put on by The Limner Society.

In the time of just ONE WEEK, a dozen artists from different parts of the globe came together to create a body of work, enduring long hours, short deadlines, in the confined space of a GROUP STUDIO at the CityArts Factory in Downtown Orlando. The artwork was made available for sale by silent auction during the opening on October 15th.

Artists braved the inconveniences of having their works-in-progress exposed to each other and to passers-by, but also experienced the contagious sparks of inspiration and a depth of spirit from this vulnerable sharing of the creative process.

One day was set aside to invite the public into the studio to see the works in progress. This allows for great discussion around the techniques but also opens doors about the ‘enduring’ process; God’s enduring love for us.

Pine Street was barricaded off for musical performances. Praise and worship to Jesus Christ in the form of classical & flamenco guitar, pop/rock worship and the Evoke drum circle witnessed in the street.

Proceeds of the sales will support The Destiny Foundation – helping the working poor, Evoke Ministries, the Bezalel Gathering – supporting artists of faith; and the Limner Society. Thanks to all those who participated! All art will hang through November 15 2009.

Extreme Gospel

On Saturday October 10th Evoke Ministries joined in on the Barachel Biketoberjam! Their 2nd annual bike & skate competition, sponsored by Home Depot, Mountain Dew and Monster, was held in the parking lot of Fowlers Grove Mall in Winter Garden. We brought the ministry of music by way of a DJ filling the air with sounds of praises to God through Hip Hop & Rock. Evoke also represented with rappers, break dancers and painters all giving glory to God the father and Jesus Christ. I shared a portion of my testimony and the need for a living relationship with our creator found through Jesus Christ to those at the event and the entire outdoor mall. Let ears and eyes be open to the hope in Christ! It seems that so many have heard the name Jesus Christ, but do not understand the dynamic intimate relationship that’s waiting to be had. Please help us to continue sharing our stories of God’s love with this generation through creative ways.

Jesus on Campus!

This past Tuesday Evoke Ministries teamed up with Chi Alpha student ministries for a lunchtime outreach at the University of Central Florida (UCF)! It was awesome to be out on a campus of 50,000+ students sharing the love and truth of Jesus Christ! We came with the tools God has given us; our creative gifts and the Holy Spirit. It’s amazing how powerful a medium creative talents really are in connecting people one to another. Live paintings, DJ, break dancers, rappers and live drums rocked the student union area with praises to God. Many of us shared testimonies of the realty of Christ in our lives. The Gospel was preached loud and clear. I was also reminded how much an offense the Gospel is. A light has come into the world but men loved the darkness because their deeds are evil. (John 3:19) Nevertheless, we shared the message of Christ with love and compassion for over 2 hours with hundreds of students. We had many conversations and prayer time with students of different backgrounds and varied world views. To God be the glory! He is still reconciling men to himself and calling us to participate in this wonderful work that has such eternal rewards (2 Corith 5:18).

This coming weekend we are doing ministry at the Barachel bike and skate competition sponsored by Mountain Dew. Please pray for that as we share the gospel with boldness eyes and ears be opened. Check out the flyer if you wanna come join.

Block Party! with Open Door Healing & Renewal Center

On Saturday Sept 26th, Evoke Ministries partnered with Open Door Ministries for a community Block Party! Open Door, headed by Marty and Peg Alminana, is a recovery ministry to street ladies and addicts along the OBT stretch. The Block Party offered tons of free food; BBQ, hamburgers, ice cream, snow cones, stuff for the kids; bounce house, face painting, & puppet show. Of course there was also music ministry; hip hop, gospel & latin. Evoke provided graphics and promotion for the event, hip hop ministry by Iron Sharpens Iron, testimonies and the preaching of the gospel. It was an awesome day of sharing love with the community and sharing the we’ve life found in Jesus Christ. Many received prayer, some committed their lives to Christ, everyone was fed, and wonderful relationships were made. Surely those in the community now know where to come to receive help and hope.

Reality Thru Artistry – Park Outreach

This past Sunday we had a blast just doing our thing in the park. We gathered artists, musicians, rappers, poets & preachers to share the love and truth of Christ at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. Our gathering was intentional, to share Christ clearly and boldly in love. As artists were drawing & painting, and drummers played african & latin rhythms, we preached, gave testimonies and had discussions about the things of God. We got a chance to share with small groups, minister one-on-one, pray for people, and even feed the homeless.

It was awesome to lift up the name of Jesus in the city park and share our own experiences of redemption. Eric declared, “No church can save you! No religion can save you! Only the blood of Jesus Christ.” Throughout the day I was reminded of Paul the Apostle who in Acts 17:17, “reasoned in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there.” Sometimes just being willing to sit among the people and share an afternoon together opens wonderful doors for the Lord to move. How can we sit at home when our generation lives in such a hopeless state.

Compelling them to come in – July 4th

July 4th weekend was absolutely insane! There were people everywhere celebrating by the thousands. That is what American’s do best; celebrate and party. But the sad reality is that many really have nothing to celebrate.

Revelation 3:17 says, “You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. ¹⁸I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. ¹⁹Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. ²⁰Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. ²¹To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. ²²He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

We went out, compelling them to come in. The news reported over 165,000 people came out to Red, Hot & Boom in Altamonte on the 3rd and thousands to Avalon Park on the 4th.

We handed out thousands of testimony flyers and had many conversations about the living God and Jesus Christ with people, sharing our experiences and how the love of God is for them too.

“And the master said, ‘Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled. – Luke 14:2

May God’s people’s heart begin to break for this lost, blind and dying generation. Cool and casual Christianity will do nothing! People urgently need to hear the love-message of the gospel now! Not when we feel like it.
