Rust. Oh to say what I thought when I heard this was our color of the month. What a challenge and disappointment all at the same time. I work with bright, bold colors and as for rust? All I saw was old, tarnished, and drab. However after working with it tonight-I truly see it’s beauty.
And then, I am reminded of His gift of beauty.
I saw the color rust as something so damaged, worn and stale-but I was only looking at the surface. As I began to mix the colors with my brush I began to feel something more. It is deeper than drab and that is when the Lord reminded me of His wonder.
“Rust” is a testimony. Giving us beauty for ashes and strength for fear. He sees something more than just rust. As we can feel so unworthy He continually reveals and polishes the vibrant reds and the bold oranges with a this magnificent glow of yellow!
I see His glory and I have fallen in love with the warmth of rust because there is such a story behind it.

I’ve always liked the color of rust. It has such depth and beauty that I look forward to working with it.
It is a really great color.
Awesome comparison Crystal… Love the picture too. You should check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grisaille
Grisaille is a style of painting used by old masters as a way of sketching out some of the greatest Christian paintings of all time. Some are on the page I referenced. Looks like you are naturally getting the hang of this style of painting. It is really remarkable how far you can push these colors.
Thanks Susan. I am really enjoying this and I am already getting revelation from it. I am tackling this project with a teachable spirit-having the Lord teach me through 365-leaving myself open to learn.
